OUR LATEST FACILITIES

Sunbeam Aquarium moved into our sprawling wholesale facility at Chencharu Link in 2013. Consisting of 2 buildings sitting on 10,000 square feet of land, we are the largest indoor ornamental wholesale quarantine and export fish facility in Singapore. The first building comprises the packing, office and marine quarantine facility. The second building is solely a fish house for freshwater fish.

Our fish house holds freshwater and saltwater aquarium fish, crustaceans such as ornamental shrimps, crayfish and crabs, clams and mussels from Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Congo, India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Columbia, Brazil, Peru, Hawaii and Australia. In total, we export 1400 species of freshwater and saltwater fish, crustaceans and molluscs.

OUR COMMITMENTS TO EXCELLENCY

With 6000 glass tanks, different systems could be customized to different biotypes, thereby ensuring stress free environment for our ornamental tropical fish.  We have separate systems for coldwater fish, brackish fish, discus, crustaceans, mollusc (snails & clams) and terrariums. To ensure biosecurity, 3 separate rooms are available specifically to hold koi during the mandatory 30 days quarantine in Singapore.  Only koi which has NOT tested positive for KHV will be shipped and every single consignment shall be subjected to this test.  Some sensitive species such as Rummy Nose Tetra, Neon Tetras and Discus can be grown out in our wholesale facility and this makes them very stable and well-conditioned by the time they are shipped. Wild caught species are acclimatized to glass tank environment before being exported so that condition is stable and handling is much easier for customers.

Quarantine and Export

When a customer receives a poor quality shipment, the issue is not just about DOA. It is about additional time and money wasted to acclimatize and treat the poorly arrived fish. It is about loss of revenue. Precious tank space is now taken up by livestock longer than it should be. Customer satisfaction is reduced because order fulfillment level is down. We at Sunbeam understand all these problems perfectly. As such, we aim to get it right from the start. Even though we have been exporting quality fish since our establishment in 1972, we are never complacent. Now with our newly upgraded and expanded quarantine facilities, we are able to quarantine twice as many fish as before. Supplementing our quarantine facilities is a network of breeders who are assessed every shipment to ensure that they meet our stringent quality standards.

We are always looking to improve the arrival conditions, hence experimental packing is being conducted regularly. Investment in technology such as automated packing and sealing machines are made to increase the standard of our packing.

Few exporters in Singapore set up marine facilities at all for it is a heavy investment, but we did. In addition, our facilities are supported by a team of divers who collects marine fish by net.

Today, we serve distributors, wholesalers and retailers in at least 40 countries. The depth and width of our experience have prepared us to cope with a wide range of customers’ expectations. Hence, you could be assured that your shipment would be most professionally manage

Our saltwater system consists of 6 modular systems which may be halted for maintenance easily at any one time. This makes disease control very quick and easy. Marine shipments are imported weekly and quarantined before re-export. Few exporters in Singapore set up saltwater facilities at all for it is a heavy investment. However, we did so after following the requests of many clients who had already experienced the excellent quality of our freshwater fish. They hope to receive the same kind of quality as they did for saltwater. In addition, our facilities are supported by a team of divers who collects marine fish by net.  As a result, our saltwater fish business has been growing steadily even though our saltwater fish is definitely not as cheap as importing directly from Bali, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Red Sea or Hawaii. However, in turn, customers are quality assured.  In these times when the cost of freight often costs more than the fish itself and faced with rising rental and manpower costs, getting the fish alive and in excellent condition to be sold immediately was more crucial than getting just cheap fish. When you receive a poor shipment, it is not just about DOA. It is about additional time and money wasted to acclimatize and treat the sick fish. Precious tank space is now taken up by livestock longer than it should be.

ULTIMATE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Customer satisfaction is reduced because order fulfillment is down. Consider not just the immediate cost of fish and freight lost from a bad shipment, but most importantly, YOU could have made the sales had you received a good quality shipment.

We at Sunbeam Aquarium understand these problems perfectly because we are customers ourselves too! As such, we aim to get it right from the start and too source for good quality breeders, rather than the cheapest breeders.
